R. China) Abstract: In this paper, we introduced the training and management of teaching assistant (TA) in the chemistry laboratory teaching center in USTC. The contents were discussed based on the application and training process, the teaching methods and techniques, the assessing system, and the incentive measures. Besides, this paper analyzed the function of TA in the undergraduate laboratory teaching, and described several existing problems and the corresponding solutions. Key Words: Laboratory teaching assistant (TA); Application and training process; Teaching methods and techniques; Management system; Teaching quality 助教(teaching assistant，TA)，即辅助教学的意思。早在公元前两三千年，西亚两河流域的远古学 校已经出现了辅助教师的角色。到了19世纪末，美国哈佛大学率先在全球创立了研究生助教制度， [1] 使之成为高校不可或缺的教学力量 。1988年，由国家教改委制定了《高等学校聘用研究生担任助教 [2] 工作试行办法》，揭开了中国高校正式推行研究生助教制度的序幕 。担任助教是在校大学生参与社 会实践的重要渠道，其工作职责包括：随堂听课
