With the first oil well of China, the Modern facilities, Oilfield history Exhibition Hall and Iron Man Memorial Hall, Daqing enjoys the special resources for developing oil industrial tourism. In March, 1960, Daqing was put into exploitation and construction. Since 1976, annual crude oil output remained over 50 million tons, and in 1983, the annual output was 52.35 million tons. The discovery and exploitation of Daqing proved that continental stratum can generate oil, and form huge oilfield. Thus this fact enriched and developed the petroleum geology theory, and changed the backward aspect that China was weak in oil industry. This event had an enormous influence on the development of Chinas industry. Light of the Oil: This large-scale metal sculpture is the noted “Light of the Oil”. Lofty and arresting, it stands at the intersection of Zhonqi Road, Sada Road and Kaerjiali Road of Saertu. It was built in July, 1987. It expresses the Daqing people and even the human’s volition of conquering nature and their magnificent power by modern aesthetic Symbolism “Songjisanjing” is short for the full name of “the third stratigraphic well of Songliao Plain”, which is seated in the middle part of Yongsheng Village, Gaotaizi Town, Datong District, Daqing City. It is the first producing well of Daqing, and it was the symbol of the discovery of Daqing Oilfield. From then on, it was known to all the people in the world that China was not a lean-oil country any more! The site of “Songjisanjing” is designated in October, 1958, and the drilling was operated by drilling crew 32118 on 11th, April, 1959.
