Lets pick one out for Dads birthday. Mother suggested to her daughter. Riley nodded happily. She could even imagine how excited Dad would be when receiving such a big surprise, and maybe they would ride in the park together. Riley was looking through the home page of the Bike Rack, a shop in their town of St. Charles, Illinois, when a video link for Project Mobility caught their eye. Out of curiosity, she clicked on it. The short video told how Hal Honeyman, a Bike Rack Co-owner, had created an organization to provide specially engineered bicycles to people with disabilities. It showed the happy faces of those who were now riding them-accident victims, injured soldiers, and children with disabilities, including Hals son, who had been born with cerebral palsy.2021年浙江1卷真题原文 There was silence for moments. Suddenly, there came Rileys determined voice. Mom, Im going to buy such a bike for one of those kids. A bit surprised, Mother pulled Riley into her arms, and kissed her on the forehead. Sweetheart, it may be a big challenge for us! Mother said. But for a kid who cant walk, such a bike would be a marvelous Christmas present! Riley smiled. Two days later, Riley ran into the kitchen just like a gust of wind, and cheerfully showed her mother a letter she had written asking for donations. “I think its amazing that there are such special bikes for kids who cant walk,” the letter said, “I saw on the Net how happy a boy was when he got one... Im writing to ask for your help.Mother was deeply touched by her daughters effort, but doubts quickly occurred. The cost of just one of those special bikes could be as high as $4,000.
