Teaching Approach
Task-based approach,audio-lingual method, communicative approach and situational language tea ching
Teaching procedure
Step 1 Revision and lead-in
Ask a pair of students to act out Dialogue B for the whole class on the stage.
Play a game with the whole class by showing the video named What can I do for you? to check if the students are able to use “I want…”.
Step 2 Grammar focus
Show the video “What can I do for you?”.
Ask the students to describe goods with “I want…” sentence structure. Show another video: a waiter, a mother and a son
A: Mum, can I have a motorbike? B: Ok. Choose one you like.
C: What can I do for you.
A: I want to buy a motorbike. C: How about this one?
A: It looks nice. I like it.
Ask the students to make a conversation in group. Learn the new sentence structure “What can I do for you” and “I want…”when we want to buy some goods.
Go on the video.
B: How much is it?
C: It’s eighty-five yuan.
B: We’ll take it.
C: Here you are. Thanks.
Ask students to communicate with others about how to ask the price of the goods. Learn the new sentence structure “How much is it?” and “It’s eighty-five yuan.”
Step 3 Looking and talking
Pair work. Show pictures in Activity 21 on the screen. Talk about them one by one. Write down th e following questions on the blackboard. Ask students to think of them:
Can I buy a motorbike?
What can I do for you?
