However, in many cases, the use of punishment is not always appropriate and can have negative effects or even backfire. Therefore, this article discusses the issue of the rational application of punishment in degree education. First, this article outlines the general definition of punishment and its types, and reviews the current punishment situation in degree education. Second, this article analyzes the rational use of punishment in degree education. On this basis, this article proposes principles and considerations that should be followed, including clear standards and procedures, fairness, moderation, and timeliness. Finally, the conclusion of this article believes that the rational application of punishment is necessary in degree education, but it needs to be used in appropriate circumstances and follow appropriate guidelines and procedures.
