Englishhasbecomeagloballanguage,anditisessentialforstudentstomasterEnglishtosucceedintodaysworld.However,Englishlearningforminoritystudentspresentschallenges,especiallyfortheZhuangpeopleinGuangxi,China.TheZhuangpopulationisthelargestminoritygroupinChina,withauniquecultureandlanguage.TheyfacedifficultiesinlearningEnglishduetolimitedexposuretoEnglishandculturaldifferences.Therefore,exploringeffectivecognitivestrategiesforZhuangmiddleschoolstudentsinEnglishlearningisnecessary.

ResearchQuestions:

1.WhatarethecognitivestrategiesthatZhuangmiddleschoolstudentsuseinEnglishlearning?

2.WhatistheefficacyofcognitivestrategiesinEnglishlearningofZhuangmiddleschoolstudents?

3.ArethereanydifferencesincognitivestrategiesusedbyZhuangmiddleschoolstudentsinEnglishlearningbasedongenderoracademicperformance?

Methodology:

Thisstudywillemployamixed-methodsresearchdesign,whichincludesbothqualitativeandquantitativemethods.Thesampleforthisstudywillinclude200ZhuangmiddleschoolstudentsfromsixschoolsinChongzuoCity,Guangxi.Tocollectdata,theresearcherwilladministerquestionnairesandconductsemi-structuredinterviewswiththeparticipants.ThequestionnairewillconsistofLikertscaleandmultiple-choicequestionstoidentifycognitivestrategiesusedbystudentsinEnglishlearning.Theinterviewswillhelptoobtaindetailedinformationonthestrategiesusedbystudentsandtheirperceptionsoftheeffectivenessofthesestrategies.Thedatacollectedthroughquestionnaireswillbeanalyzedusingdescriptivestatistics,whilecontentanalysiswillbeappliedtoanalyzethequalitativedataobtainedfromtheinterviews.
