    Eightyearshavealreadygonebysinceourfirstbidforthe2000Games.Duringthisperiodoftime,mycountryhasmadetremendousstridesontheroadtomodernizationandsocialprogress.AstheEvaluationCommissionhasindicated,BeijinghasthecapacitytoorganizeanexcellentOlympicGameswhichwillhanddownauniqueheritagetoChinaandtosport.

    Nomatterwhichdecisionyoumaketoday,itwillberecordedinhistory.Howeveronedecisionwillcertainlyservetomakehistory.Withyourdecisionheretoday,youcanmovetheworldandChinatowardanembraceoffriendshipthroughsportthatwillbenefitallmankind.

    Almost50yearsago,ItookpartintheOlympicGamesforthefirsttime;itwasinHelsinki.Sincethen,IhavebecomedeeplyattachedtotheOlympicspirit.Andme,likesomanyofmycountrymen,IamconvincedthattheOlympicvaluesareuniversalandtheOlympicflamelightsupthewayofprogressforallhumanity.

    IthasbeenadreamofminethroughoutmycareertofindawaytobringtheOlympicGamestoChina.I,too,wantmycountrymenandwomentoexperiencetheeternalbeautyoftheOlympicdreaminourhomeland.

    ByvotingforBeijing,youwillbringtheGamesforthefirsttimeinthehistoryofOlympismtoacountrywithonefifthoftheworldspopulationandgivetothisbillionpeopletheopportunitytoservetheOlympicMovementwithcreativityanddevotion.
