ABSTRACT

Anaphylaxisisthemostsevereclinicalpresentationofacutesystemicallergicreactions.The

occurrenceofanaphylaxishasincreasedinrecentyears,andsubsequently,thereisaneedto

continuedisseminatingknowledgeonthediagnosisandmanagement,soeveryhealthcarepro-

fessionalispreparedtodealwithsuchemergencies.Therationaleofthisupdatedposition

documentistheneedtokeepguidancealignedwiththecurrentstateoftheartofknowledgein

anaphylaxismanagement.TheWorldAllergyOrganization(WAO)anaphylaxisguidelineswere

publishedin2011,andthecurrentguidanceadoptstheirmajorindications,incorporatingsome

novelchanges.Intramuscularepinephrine(adrenaline)continuestobethefirst-linetreatmentfor
