Introduction

ThepurposeofthisreportistopresentthefindingsofastudythatinvestigatesthecommonwritingerrorsofGrade9studentsinPingyuanNo.3MiddleSchool,withafocusonEnglishcomposition.Thestudyaimstoidentifyandanalyzethetypesofwritingerrorscommittedbythestudentsandtoexplorethepossiblecausesoftheseerrors.

Methodology

Thestudyemployedamixed-methodsresearchapproach,whichincludesbothquantitativeandqualitativedatacollectionandanalysis.Theparticipantswere50Grade9studentsfromPingyuanNo.3MiddleSchool,selectedthroughpurposivesamplingconsideringacademicperformanceinEnglish.Datawascollectedthroughawritingtest,aquestionnaireandinterviews.Thewritingtestwasdesignedtoassessthestudentswritingability,withaspecificfocusongrammaticalandvocabularyerrors.Thequestionnaireaimedtocollectinformationonstudentswritinghabits,motivation,andteachersfeedback.TheinterviewswereconductedwithfivestudentsandtwoEnglishteacherstoobtaindeeperinsightsintothecausesoftheidentifiederrors.

Findings

Theanalysisofthewritingtestrevealedthatthemostcommonwritingerrorscommittedbythestudentswererelatedtoverbtense,subject-verbagreement,prepositions,andarticles.Theseerrorsweremainlycausedbyalackofknowledgeandunderstandingofgrammarrulesandinsufficientpractice.Intermsofthequestionnaireresults,themajorityofstudentsreportedthattheycouldnotidentifytheirownwritingerrorsandlackedmotivationtoimprovetheirwritingskills.Theyalsostatedthattheirteachersdidnotprovideenoughfeedbackontheirwriting.Interviewdataconfirmedthestudentsviews,withteachersacknowledgingalackofattentiontogrammarinstructionandinsufficientfeedbacktoindividualstudents.

Conclusion

ThestudyhasidentifiedthemajorwritingerrorsinGrade9studentsinPingyuanNo.3MiddleSchooland
