Overthepastyear(2022–2023),recently-releasedAItoolssuchasChatGPTandGitHubCopilothavegainedsignificantattentionfromcomputingeducators.Bothresearchersandpractitionershavediscoveredthatthesetoolscangeneratecorrectsolutionstoava-rietyofintroductoryprogrammingassignmentsandaccuratelyexplainthecontentsofcode.Giventheircurrentcapabilitiesandlikelyadvancesinthecomingyears,howdouniversityinstructorsplantoadapttheircoursestoensurethatstudentsstilllearnwell?Togatheradiversesampleofperspectives,weinterviewed20in-troductoryprogramminginstructors(9women+11men)across9countries(Australia,Botswana,Canada,Chile,China,Rwanda,Spain,Switzerland,UnitedStates)spanningall6populatedconti-nents.Toourknowledge,thisisthefirstempiricalstudytogatherinstructorperspectivesabouthowtheyplantoadapttotheseAIcodingtoolsthatmorestudentswilllikelyhaveaccesstointhefuture.Wefoundthat,intheshort-term,manyplannedtotakeimmediatemeasurestodiscourageAI-assistedcheating.Thenopin-ionsdivergedabouthowtoworkwithAIcodingtoolslonger-term,withonesidewantingtobanthemandcontinueteachingprogram-mingfundamentals,andtheothersidewantingtointegratethemintocoursestopreparestudentsforfuturejobs.Ourstudyfindingscaptureararesnapshotintimeinearly2023ascomputingin-structorsarejuststartingtoformopinionsaboutthisfast-growingphenomenonbuthavenotyetconvergedtoanyconsensusaboutbestpractices.Usingthesefindingsasinspiration,wesynthesizeda
