Title:StudyonNitrogen,Phosphorus,andPotassiumNutritionofTwoJuniperuschinensisCultivars

Introduction:

Juniperuschinensis,commonlyknownasChinesejuniper,isapopularornamentalplantwidelyusedinlandscapedesign,parks,andgardens.TherearemanycultivarsofJ.chinensiswhichexhibitawiderangeofgrowthhabits,foliagecolors,andseasonalinterests.However,thecultivationandmanagementofthesecultivarsrequirespecificknowledgeoftheirnutrientrequirements.Nitrogen,phosphorus,andpotassiumareessentialmacronutrientsthatplaykeyrolesinplantgrowth,development,andphysiology.Therefore,abetterunderstandingofthenutrientrequirementsofJ.chinensiscultivarswouldhelpimprovetheirgrowth,quality,andappearance.

Objectives:

Themainobjectivesofthisstudyare:

1.Todeterminethenitrogen,phosphorus,andpotassiumuptakeanddistributionpatternsintwoJ.chinensiscultivarsunderdifferentnutrienttreatments.

2.Toassessthegrowth,biomassproduction,andnutrientuseefficiencyofthetwocultivarsunderdifferentnutrientregimes.

3.Tocomparethenutrientrequirementsandresponsesofthetwocultivarsandidentifythebestnutrientmanagementstrategiesfortheircultivation.

MaterialsandMethods:

ThestudywillbeconductedinagreenhouseusingtwocultivarsofJ.chinensis:BluePointandSpartan.Thetreatmentswillconsistoffournutrientregimes:1)control(noadditionalnutrients),2)lownitrogen(50%ofrecommendedrate),3)lowphosphorus(50%ofrecommendedrate),and4)lowpotassium(50%ofrecommendedrate).Eachtreatmentwillbereplicatedfivetimes,andeachreplicatewillcontainfourplants.Thenutrientsolutionswillbeappliedtwiceaweek,andthenutrientconcentrationsintheleavesandrootswillbeanalyzedatdifferentintervals.Growthparameters,suchasheight,width,shootandrootdryweight,andleafarea,willalsobemeasured.Thenutrientuse
