TheForbiddenCity,alsoknownasthePalaceMuseum,embodiestheancientpeoplesyearningfortheheavenlypalaceandthe?sacred?inviolabilityofimperialpower.PurplesymbolizestheskywheretheNorthStarislocated,representingtheemperorsresidence,whileForbiddenmeansthatordinarypeoplearenotallowedtoenter.Theentirearchitecturalcomplexis?meticulously?laidoutwithsymmetricaldistributionalongthecentralaxis,reflectingtheancientChinesephilosophyofharmonybetweenheavenandmanandthefeudalhierarchicalsystem.Itcoversanareaofapproximately720,000squaremeters,withoverseventypalacesandmorethanninethousandrooms.Everybrickandtileexudes?exquisite?craftsmanshipandprofoundculturalheritage.

UponenteringtheForbiddenCity,thetoweringandmagnificentMeridianGate,thesouthernentrance,comesintoview.Itisalsothevenueforimportantceremonies.PassingthroughtheMeridianGate,onestepsintotheSquareoftheSupremeHarmony,wheremajorimperialceremonieswereheld.Thecentralbuilding,theHallofSupremeHarmony,alsoknownastheGoldenLuang,isthegrandeststructureintheForbiddenCityandservedas
