Bornofmiddle-classparents,heattendedprivatschools.In1913,hestudiedinPrincetonUnivers Butduetoillnessandneglectofacademicstudy,lefttheuniversityin1917withoutgraduationanjoinedthearmy. WhilestationedinMontgomery,Alabama,hemetanfellinlovewithZeldaSayre,thedaughterofalojudge.Andtheygotmarriedin1920.
Zeldahasbeenregardedastheprototypeofaserierich,beautifulwomenwhofiguresoprominentlyinhisfiction. Theyoungcouplefrequentlywentabroadandlivedextravagantlyaluxuriouslife.Andtokeepearninenoughmoney,Fitzgeraldwroteshortstoriesandnovelsatarapidspeed. The1930sbroughtrelentlessdeclinedforhimwithseriesofmisfortunes:hiswealthfell,hishealthandwhat’smore,Zeldahadsufferedfromsomeseriousmentalbreakdownswhichconfinedherinasanitariumfortherestofherlife.
