Miraculously,shesurvived.Butthreeyearslater,Rutnamstillfeels

theeffectsofthatday.Shehasnotbeenabletofinishcollegeandis

suingherformerschoolformalpractice.Hersuitassertsthat,giventhe

campuscounselorsadvice,schoolofficialsshouldhavedonemoreto

preventhersuicideattempt.

Thisincidentandothershavethrownaspotlightonanissuethatis

causinggrowingconcernindormroomsandstudentscenter.Are

collegesprovidingadequatecareforstudentswhomaybestruggling

witharangeofmentalillnesses?IntheSyracusecases,aspokesmanfor

theschoolcontends,TheUniversitytriedrepeatedlytohelpAnita,and

wefeltthattheyactedappropriately.Butlawyersarebusythereand

elsewhere.
