contentof2percent(minimumof3percentinGa.)orgreaterinthesurfacelayer,underlainwithawhitesandlayeraboveanorganichardpan

arewell-drained(butmoist)andacidic.Iftheorganicmattercontentofthesoilisbelowtwopercent,organicmattershouldbeaddedtothesoilat

planting.RabbiteyescanalsobegrownonsandyclayloamsorsandyloamsoilsinthePiedmontandMountains.Becausethealuminumand

manganesecontentofthesesoilsishigherthaninsands,itisdesirabletohaveapHof4.5t
