Forestisthemainbodyofterrestrialecosystemandthematerialbasisforthesurvivalanddevelopmentofhumansociety.Itplaysanirreplaceableroleinmeetingtheneedsofpeoplesproductionandlife,improvinghumanlivingenvironment,maintainingglobalecologicalbalanceandensuringnationalecologicalsecurity.

Australiahas157millionhectaresofwoodland,including156millionhectaresofnaturalforest,accountingfor99.4%,and1millionhectaresofplantation.Themainforesttypeisbroad-leavedforest.97%ofthetreespeciesareeucalyptusandAcer.

Therearemorethan600speciesofEucalyptusalone;NewSouthWales,21millionhectares,13.4%ofthenationalforestarea,andtheforestcoveragerateis18.5%.Victoria,7.4millionhectares,4.7%ofthenationalforestarea,theforestcoveragerateis33.6%.Queensland,33millionhectares,21%ofthenationalforestarea,theforestcoveragerateis19%.

Clearwatersandgreenmountainsareasgoodasmountainsofgoldandsilver.Inrecentyears,Chinasforestresourceshaveshownagoodtrendofcontinuousincreaseinquantity,steadyimprovementinqualityandcontinuousenhancementinefficiency.

AccordingtoAustralianofficials,sincetheforestfireseasonbeganinJuly2019,hightemperatureanddroughthavecausedforestfirestoravageAustralia.AsofJuly28,2020,morethan20peoplehavebeenkilled,morethan2000houseshavebeendestroyed,or3billionanimalshavebeenkilled,resultinginseriousenvironmentalpollution.
