feelburnout.Theseequationplained23–40%ofthetotalvariance.
PredictingJobandFamilySatisfaction
Demographically,asshowninTable4,jobsatisfactionwasfoundsignificantlylinkedtoage(β
=.13,p.01),familyincome(β=.13,p.05),andworkinghours(β=-.11,p.05).Interms
ofICTC,themorepeoplefeltthattheInternetcouldhelpthemaccomplishwork-relatedtasks

thejobsatisfactiontheyreported.Highjobsatisfactionwasalsorelatedtoahighlypermeable
homeboundary(β=.14,p.05)andahighlyflexibleworkenvironment(β=.11,p.05).As
expected,peopleexperiencinglowjobsatisfactionwerefacingalotofworkspilloverintotheir
home(β=-.13,p.05)andahighdegreeofjobburnout(β=-.17,p.01).Asforfamily
satisfaction,goalscope(β=.22,p.001)andInternetdependency(β=.15,p.01)werethe
twomostpowerfulpredictors.ThismeansthatthemorecentraltheInternetwastotheirlives
andthemoretheyvalueditsusefulnesstotheirwork,themoresatisfiedtheywerewiththeir
family.Furthermore,peoplewhoweresatisfiedwiththeirfamilytendedtobeolder(β=.20,p
.001),withanimpermeableboundarythatkeptworkfromspillingoverintotheirhome(β=-
.11,p.05),andhighflexibilitytodealwithwork-relatedtasksathome(β=.11,p.05).
