    ScientistshavealsofoundthatGanymedessurfaceshowssignsofflooding.

    AsaltyoceanislurkingbeneaththesurfaceofJupiterslargestmoon,Ganymede,

    scientistsusingtheHubbleSpaceTelescopehavefound.

    TheoceanonGanymede—whichisburiedunderathickcrustofice—couldactuallyharbor

    morewaterthanallofEarthssurfacewatercombined,accordingtoNASAofficials.

    Scientiststhinktheoceanisabout60miles(100kilometers)thick,10timesthedepthof

    Earthsoceans,NASAadded.ThenewHubbleSpaceTelescopefindingcouldalsohelp

    scientistslearnmoreabouttheplethoraofpotentiallywateryworldsthatexistinthesolar

    systemandbeyond.

    Thesolarsystemisnowlookinglikeaprettysoggyplace,JimGreen,NASAsdirectorof

    planetaryscience,saidduringanewsteleconferencetoday(March12).Scientistsare

    particularlyinterestedinlearningmoreaboutwateryworldsbecauselifeasweknowit

    dependsonwatertothrive.[SeeamazingphotosofGanymede]

    ScientistshavealsofoundthatGanymedessurfaceshowssignsofflooding.Youngpartsof

    Ganymedeseeninamapmayhavebeenformedbywaterbubblingupfromthe

    interiorofthemoonthroughfaultsorcryo-volcanosatsomepointinthemoonshistory,

    Greensaid.

    ScientistshavelongsuspectedthattherewasanoceanofliquidwateronGanymede—the

    largestmooninthesolarsystem,atabout3,273miles(5,268kilometers)across—hasan

    oceanofliquidwaterbeneathitssurface.TheGalileoprobemeasuredGanymedes

    icfieldin2002,providingsomedatasupportingthetheorythatthemoonhasan

    ocean.Thenewlyannouncedevide
