Classeswillgenerallyfollowthefollowingformat:Afteranintroductionbytheteacher,thestudentswillscreenaTEDTalkorlecture,adocumentary,featurefilmorwebprogram,oranaudiobroadcast,podcastormusicvideo.Duringlongerpresentations,theinstructorwilltypicallypausethemediainordertoaskindividualstudentstobrieflysummarizewhatthey’vejustlearnedorallyandtosolicitanythoughtsorquestionstheymighthavehadregardingthematerial.Uponcompletingthepresentation,thelecturerwillprovidethestudentsanopportunitytoqueryhimonanycontenttheywishtodiscuss.Studentswillalsobeaskedtogivein-classoralpresentationsbasedonwhatthey’velearnedand,occasionally,topreparesuchassignmentsashomeworks.Whentimepermits,theteacherwillleadthestudentsthrough(orassignashomework)listeningexercisesfromthebookandaudioseries,ListenToThis,inpreparationforthecourse’sEPT/CEEexamination,whichwillbeadministeredtheWednesdayofWeek13.
Throughoutallclasses,theteacherreservestherighttointerruptthestudentsatanytimetocorrectthemonEnglishlanguagebasics—pronunciation,grammar,subject-verbagreement,properuseofvoiceandtense,idiomaticexpressionsetc.—andperhapsoffersomemoreadvancedlessonsforthebettermentoftheirunderstandingofEnglish(usingLatinrootstobetterunderstandnewwordsfromcontextforexample).Attwopointsduringthecourse—tentativelyduringWeeks8and15—theteacherwilladministerashortquizinor
