Thisunitdealswiththeimportanceofcommunicationandsocializationinhumanrelationshipsandsociallife.Socializationisoneofthekeyconceptsinsociologyreferringtotheprocessofinternalizingthenormsandideologiesofsociety.Socializationencompassesbothlearningandteachingandisthusthemeansbywhichsocialandculturalcontinuityareattained.Humansneedsocialexperiencestolearntheircultureandtosurvive.Socializationessentiallyrepresentsthewholeprocessoflearningthroughoutthelifecourseandisacentralinfluenceonthebehavior,beliefs,andactionsofadultsaswellasofchildren.Duringthisprocess,Communicationplaysakeyrole.Itistheactofconveyingintendedmeaningsfromoneentityorgrouptoanotherthroughtheuseofmutuallyunderstoodsignsandsemioticrules.
