Thenthereisthetimespentbeing‘processed’atamodernairport.Peopleareconveyedlikerobotsalongwalkways;baggageisweighed,ticketsproduced,examinedandproducedyetagainbeforethepassengersmovetoanotherwaitingarea.Journeysbyrailandseatakelonger,yes,butthehoursdevotedtobeing‘processed’atdepartureandarrivalinairportsareluckilyabsent.Nowonder,then,thatthemodernhigh-speedtrainsarewinningbackpassengersfromtheairlines.
