UniversityfromtheCCGGlobalDialogueSeries.Theauthorpresentsandanalyzesthewhole

processofpre-interpretingpreparationforthistask,describesthemockEnglish-Chinese

consecutiveinterpretingtaskanditstranscription,studiestheinfluenceofpre-interpreting

preparationonthequalityofinterpreting,andfurtherproposesefficientstrategiesforpre-

interpretingpreparation.

Inthisreport,theliteratureonpre-interpretingpreparationandinterpretingquality

assessmentisreviewed,followedbythepre-interpretingpreparationdescriptionforthismock

taskfromfiveaspects:subjectknowledge,terminology,linguisticfeatures,andspeakers’style.

Threeparametersofthecommunicativeeffect,fluency,andaccuracyareselectedasthecriteria

ofinterpretingqualityassessment.Thereportfurtheridentifiesspecificcaseswherepre-

interpretingpreparationhadapositiveimpactoninterpretingquality,suchaswhenthe

preparationhelpedtheauthortobetterunderstandgraspthecontextorterminologyofthe

dialogue.However,thereportalsohighlightscaseswheretheinsufficientpre-interpreting

preparationhadshortcomings,suchaswhenpreparationdidnotcoveralltheknowledgeand

terminologythatthespeakermaytouchon,thuscreatingabarriertounderstandingforthe

author.Throughthesespecificcaseanalyses,thereportprovidesconcreteexamplesofthe

impactofpre-interpretingpreparationoninterpretingquality.Thefindingsofthisreportprovide
