DevelopedbytheAviationIndustryCorporationofChina(AVIC),theAG600istheworldslargestcivilianamphibiousaircraft,withamaximumtakeoffweightof60tonsandacapacitytocarryupto12tonsofwater.Ithasacruisingspeedof220km/handanoperationalrangeof4,500km,makingitidealformissionssuchasfirefighting,logistics,andcommunication,accordingtoCCTV.

TheaircraftisagroundbreakingtechnologicalachievementthatwillsignificantlyenhanceChinascapabilitiesinemergencyrescue,disasterreliefandaerialfirefighting.

Afteryearsofdevelopment,theAG600achievedseveralmajormilestones,includingsuccessfulland,water,andseatestflights.InFebruary2025,itcompleteditsfinalroundoftesting,culminatinginsuccessfulcertificationflights,accordingtoCCTV.

AkeyfeatureoftheAG600sdesignisitsdualcapabilitiesforbothlandandwateroperations,whichpresentedmajorengineeringchallenges.

ChengZhihang,GeneralDirectorofAVICsSouthChinaGeneralOffice,saidthattheaircraftfeaturesaboat-likestructurewithwingtipfloatersforwaterstability,alongwithasteppedhullandwavesuppressiongroovesforefficientnavigationinbothenvironments.

CCTVreportedthatengineersstruggledtobalancethevastlydifferentpropertiesofairandwater,withtheirdensitydifferingbynearly800times.Toovercomethis,theyconductedover10,000testsinwindtunnelsandhydrodynamicslabs,ensuringtheAG600couldperformeffectivelyinbothsettings,ultimatelyachievingtechnicalbreakthroughsthatenabledsuccessfulamphibiousflight.

WiththeTypeCertificategranted,theAG600mustnexto
