    Introduction

    ToensuremaximumperformancefromtheALC5651codec,propercomponentplacement

    androutingareveryimportant.Thisdocumentincludesproperlyisolatingthedigitalcircuitryand

    analogcircuitry.

    Theeffectsofgroundandsupplyplanegeometry,decoupling/bypassing/filteringcapacitors

    placementpriorities,LINKsignals,analogpowersupplies,andanaloggroundplanes.

    ThelayoutdesignofGroundandSupplyplaneGeometry

    Figure.1showsatopviewlayoutofgroundplaneforALC5651codec.Thislayoutseparates

    theanaloganddigitalgroundplaneswitha60to100milsgap.Themoathelpstoisolatenoisy

    digitalcircuitryfromquietanalogaudiocircuitry.Thedigitalandanaloggroundplanesaretied

    togetheratonepoint(FerriteBead).Thiswillbethedrawbridgethatgoesacrossthemoat.

    Similarly,NOSIGNALSWHATEVERarepermittedtocrossthemoat(todosocreatesaslot

    antennaradiatorwhichwillhammeryourPCBlayoutwithcrosstalk,andcreatehugeamountsof

    EMI,totallydefeatingyourpurpose).ALC5651alsosupportsachargepumpcaplessheadphone

    output.Itisbettertoconnectacleargroundforchargepump.So,connectCPVREFtoAGNDis

    thebetterchoice.
