July21st,2007wasatypicalEnglishsummer’sday—itrainedfor24hours!Asusual,Irushedhomefromworkatmiddaytocheckonthehouse.Nothingwasamiss(出差错的）.BythetimeIleftworkat5pm,however,theroadintoourvillagewasflooded.Ourhousehadneverbeenfloodedbut,asIopenedthefrontdoor,awaveofwatergreetedme.①ThankGodthekidsweren’twithme,becausethehousewas5feetdeepinwater.Welosteverythingdownstairs.Andtheplasterhadtobetomoffthewalls，ceilingspulleddown.
