TheveryfirstWorldEnvironmentDaytookplacein1974,establishedbytheUnitedNationsGeneralAssemblyonthefirstdayoftheStockholmConferenceonthehumanenvironmentthattookplacein1972.EachyeartheUnitedNationspicksathemeandahostcitywhereanyonewhoisconcernedabouttheenvironmentcantalkaboutenvironmentaltopicswithothers,followedbydifferentkindsofexhibitstopromoteenvironmentalawareness.Environmentalists,academicsandscientistscometogethertobringnewideasonthetableconcerningtheenvironment.

ThelatestWorldEnvironmentDaywashostedbyIndia,andthethemewasBeatPlasticPollution.Iturgedpeopletoexploreandchoosealternativeslikepaperorclothbagstoreducetheproductionanduseofdisposableplastic,whichmakesup10%ofallofthewaste.EventhoughtheUnitedNationspicksaspecifichostcityeveryyear,peoplearoundtheworldstillcelebrateWorldEnvironmentDayintheirhometownswithparades(游学),concerts,cleaning,treeplantingandallkindsofgreenactionstoworktowardshavingabeautifulplanetandbattlingpollution.

WorldEnvironmentDayisnotapublicholiday,soyouwon’tbegettingthedayoffworkorschool,butifyouwanttocelebrate,whynotbringittotheattentionofyourparents,friends,colleaguesorclassmates?WorldEnvironmentDayisallaboutworkingtogethertotakeactionfortheplanet,sotrytogeteveryoneyouknowinterestedinhelpingdosomething.Thingsassmallasmakingsurepeoplehaveawaytorecyclecanmakeadifference.Youcouldalsotrybeautifyingyourneighborhoodbyplantinggarden
