ABSTRACT.OriginalmaterialofvertebratesfromtwoLowerDevonianlocalitiesoftheBelgianArdenneMassifis

described.ThematerialfromLaGileppeincludesRhinopteraspiscrouchi(Vertebrata,Heterostraci,Pteraspidiformes)

andisthefirstconfirmationofvertebrateforthislateLochkovianlocalitybelongingtotheZSporeZone,andcorrelated

tothelowerpartoftheAlthaspisleachiFishZone.ThisconfirmstheoverlappingrangeofR.crouchiandA.leachiinthe

siliciclasticLowerDevonianofWesternEurope.Anorbitalplateandtwootherelementsofanundeterminedpteraspidiform

fromNonceveuxareaddedtothematerialalreadyknownfromthislocality.TheNonceveuxlocalityislateLochkovian

inageandbelongstotheGSporeZone,whichiscorrelatedtothebaseoftheA.leachiFishZone.TheLaGileppematerial

iscomposedofsmallspecimenswhichareinterpretedaseitherofjuvenileindividualsorofsmalladults.Itisconsistent

withpreviousresultsonFrench-BelgianlocalitiesamongtheEarlyDevoniansiliciclasticdepositsofWesternEurope

(OldRedSandstonesandalliedfacies)whichhavebeeninterpretedasconfined,restrictedmarineenvironments.
