DevelopmentsSinceCBO’sOriginalEstimateand

TheirExpectedEffectsonBudgetarySavings

CBOoriginallyestimatedthattogether,thethreedrugprovisionsofthe2022reconciliationactwould

reducethedeficitby$129billionthrough2031.

CBOhaslearnednewinformationabouttheeffectsoftheprovisions.Thatinformationsuggeststhat

theagencyprobablyoverestimatedtheamountofsavingsfromtheact’sdrugprovisions,andthe

agencyhassubsequentlychangeditsprojectionsoftheeffectsofthoseprovisions.
