InJune,theFoodandDrugAdministration(FDA)andtheeachweek)hasbeenassociatedwithterchildhoodIQ

EnvironmentalProtectionAgencyissuedanupdateddraftscores,finemotorcoordination,andcommunicationand

ofadviceonfishconsumptionforpregnantandbreastfeedingsocialskills,andreducedincidenceofpostpartumdepres-

women.1Thestatedreasonfortheupdatewasarecentsurveysion.7Omega3fattyacidsaresubstratesforthesynthesisofa

indicatingthat21%ofpregnantwomenhadeatennofishvarietyofantiinfltoryandinfltion-resolving

duringtheprecedingmonthand75%hadeaten4ouncesamediatorsandalsofavorablyaltertheproductionofthrom-

weekandwerethusmissingnutrientsdeemedimportantforboxaneandprostaglandinE2,8whichmayaccountforthe

fetalgrowthanddevelopment.Presumably,manywomenlongergestationsandhigherbirthweightsthatareassociated

learnedoftherecommendationsthatweredraftedin2001withdietsbasedlargelyonfish.9Avarietyofliteraturetouts

andwerereaffirmedin2004bythese2agencies2(warningofomega3fattyacidsforimprovingcardiovascularhealthby

potentialmercurycontaminationinfishandadvisingthatpreventingfatalarrhythmiasandreducingtriglycerideand

consumptionoffishlowinmercurybelimitedto12ouncesC-reactiveproteinlevels.10TheCentersforDiseaseControl
