Abstract

UndertheEPCmode,eachmemberunitoftheconsortium,withitsownexpertiseand

resourceadvantages,undertakesthetasksofdesign,constructionandprocurementintheEPC

project,andjointlyundertakestheresponsibilitiesandrisksintheprocessofqualification

review,bidding,contractsigningandconstructionoftheEPCproject.Itcanbeseenthatunder

theEPCmode,eachmemberunitoftheconsortiumiscrucialtothesuccessfulrealizationof

theprojectobjectives.Onlywhentheworkofeachmemberunitoftheconsortiumis

successfullycompletedcantheprojectobjectivesbesuccessfullyachieved.Inreality,themode

ofconsortiumcontractingEPCprojectshasbeenwidelyused.Throughcomplementary

advantages,thememberunitsoftheconsortiumcannotonlyenhancethecorecompetitiveness

oftheconsortiumorganization,butalsoimprovetheconstructionefficiencyoftheEPCproject.

However,duetothedifferencesintheculturalbackground,managementstyleandtarget

interestsoftheparticipatingmembersoftheconsortium,inpractice,themembersofthe

consortiumundertheEPCmodeoftencontradicteachotherduetotheabovedifferences,

resultinginthefailureoftheEPCproject.Fromatheoreticalperspective,theexistingresearch

resultsshowthattheresearchtopicsofpartnership,benefitdistributionandrisksharingamong

themembersoftheconsortiumareofgreatvalue,whileatpresent,therearefewstudiesonthe
