Abstract
Mammaliancelllinesarefrequentlyusedasthepreferredhostcellsforproducingrecombinanttherapeuticproteins(RTPs)
havingpost-translationalmodifedmodifcationssimilartothoseobservedinproteinsproducedbyhumancells.Nowadays,
mostRTPsapprovedformarketingareproducedinChinesehamsterovary(CHO)cells.Recombinanttherapeuticantibodies
(RTAs)areamongthemostimportantandpromisingRTPsforbiomedicalapplications.Amajorlimitationassociatedwith
theuseofRTAsistheiraggregation,whichcanbecausedbyavarietyoffactors;thisresultsinareductionofquality.RTA
aggregationsareespeciallyconcerningastheycantriggerhumanimmuneresponsesinhumansandmaybefatal.Therefore,
themechanismsunderlyingRTAaggregationandmeasuresforavoidingaggregationareinterestingtopicsinRTAsresearch.
Inthisreview,wediscussrecentprogressinthefeldofRTAsaggregation,withafocusonfactorsthatcauseaggregation
duringRTAproductionandthedevelopmentofstrategiesforovercomingRTAaggregation.
