GENERALMAINTENANCE

Thesearemaintenanceandinspectionitemswhichareconsideredtobetheowner’sresponsibility.

Theycanbedonebytheownerortheycanhavethemdoneataserviceshop.

Theseitemsincludethosewhichshouldbecheckedonadailybasis,thosewhich,inmostcases,

donotrequirespecialtoolsandthosewhichareconsideredtobereasonablefortheownertodo.

Itemsandproceduresforgeneralmaintenanceareasfollows.

1.GENERALNOTES

•Maintenanceitemsmayvaryfromcountrytocountry.Checktheowner’smanualsupplementinwhich

themaintenancescheduleisshown.

•Everyserviceitemintheperiodicmaintenanceschedulemustbeperformed.

•Periodicmaintenanceservicemustbeperformedaccordingtowhicheverintervalintheperiodicmain-

tenancescheduleoccursfirst,theodometerreading(mi)orthetimeinterval(months).

•Maintenanceserviceafterthelastperiodshouldbeperformedatthesameintervalasbeforeuns

noted.

•Failuretodoevenoneoftheitemscancausetheenginetorunpoorlyandincreasetheexhaustemis-

sions.

2.TIRES

(a)Checkthepressurewithagauge.Ifnecessary,makeadjustment.

(b)Checkforcuts,damageorexcessivewear.

3.WHEELNUTS

(a)Whencheckingthetires,checkthenutsforloosenessorformissingnuts.Ifnecessary,tightenthem.

(a)Checktheowner’smanualsupplementinwhichthemaintenancescheduleisshown.
