Introduction

ThepurposeofthisarticleistoassistandguidestudentsandadvisorsparticipatinginThe

MathematicalContestinModeling(MCM)andTheInterdisciplinaryContestinModeling

(ICM).Inthearticle,COMAPprovidesinformationabouttheadministrationofthecontests

fromregistrationthroughsolutionsubmission,aswellastipstoensureyourcontestexperienceis

smooth,successful,andenjoyable.

COMAP’SMathematicalContestinModeling(MCM)andInterdisciplinaryContestin

Modeling(ICM)areinternationalcontestsdesignedtoprovideundergraduatelevel(orbelow)

studentswiththeopportunitytoworkasteammemberstoengageinandimprovetheirmodeling,

problemsolving,andwritingskills.Teamsapplymathematicstomodel,develop,and

communicateasolutiontoareal-worldproblem.IndividualswithaBachelor’sdegreeorabove

arenotallowed.

BEFORETHECONTEST

Participants.TheMCM/ICMaretrueteamcompetitions.Eachteammayconsistofone,two,or

three(maximumallowed)students.Historically,thebestteamshavethreemembers.Allstudents

ontheteamMUSTbeenrolledatthesameinstitutionatthestartofthecontest;COMAPwill

makenoexceptionstothisrule.Havingamathmajoronyourteamisnotrequired,andstudent

t
