OntheeveningofNovember9,2025,theopeningceremonyofthe15thNationalGamesofthePeoplesRepublicofChinakickedoffattheGuangdongOlympicSportsCenter.AsthefirstNationalGamesco-hostedbyGuangdong,HongKongandMacao,itmadeahistoricbreakthrough.

UnderthethemeRealizingDreamsfortheFuture,the20,000-square-meterstagefeaturedaconcentriccircledesignwithoutcomplexmachinery.Theculturalperformancewasdividedintothreechapters.ItcreativelyshowcasedLingnanliondance,Cantoneseopera（粤剧）,andWingChun（咏春）throughadvancedtechnologieslikeARandholography(全息投影).AndyLau（刘德华）performedtheclassicsongChinesePeople,whileotherGreaterBayAreaartists,includingJoeyYung（容祖儿）andJordanChan（陈小春）,alsodeliveredwonderfulperformances,whichevokedstrongpatriotismandasharedregionalidentityamongtheaudience.IconiclandmarkssuchastheCantonTowerandtheHongKong-Zhuhai-MacaoBridgewereprojectedindazzlinglightandshadowshows,reflectingthedeepintegrationoftheGreaterBayArea(GBA).

ThemascotsXiyangyangandLerongrong,modeledafterChinesewhitedolphins,symbolizedunitywiththreecolorfulsplashesontheirheads.Thetorch,withitsflamecollectedfrom1,522metersbelowtheSouthChinaSea,wasrelayedacrosstheregion.Finally,torchbearers(火炬手)fromGuangdong,HongKong,andMacao—includingthestarsprinterSuBingtian—jointlylitthemaincauldron.SingersZhouShenandShanYichunbroughttheceremonytoagrandfinalewiththethemesongHeavenandSeaasOne.

Atotalof14,252athletesandnearly50,000volunteersparticipatedinthegames.Theopeningceremonywasmorethanasportsevent;itperfectlydemonstratedtheuniquecharmoftheGreaterBayAreaandChinasvibrantsportingspirittotheworld.
