Introduction

BIMProjectExecutionPlanContentwasdevelopedthroughamultistepresearchprocedurethat

includedadetailedliteraturereview;industryexpertinterviews;focusgroupmeeting;andsurveys.

AftertheContentwasdeveloped,itwasimplementedonseveralcasestudyprojectstoevaluatethe

easeofimplementationandidentifyareasforimprovingtheContent.TheContentwasdevelopedasa

complementtotheBIMProjectExecutionPlanningGuidewhichissubmittedviaaseparateballot

submissiontotheNBIMS-US.

BIMProjectExecutionPlanningGuideandContentBackground

AprojectteammustperformdetailedandcomprehensiveplanningtosuccessfullyimplementBIM.A

well-documentedBIMProjectExecutionPlanhelpstoensurethatallpartiesareclearlyawareofthe

opportunitiesandresponsibilitiesassociatedwiththeincorporationofBIMintotheprojectworkflow.A

completedBIMProjectExecutionPlanshoulddefinetheappropriateusesforBIMonaproject(e.g.,

designauthoring,costestimating,ordesigncoordination),alongwithadetaileddesignand

documentationoftheprocessforexecutingBIMthroughoutaproject’slifecycle.Oncetheplanis

created,theteamcanfollowandmonitortheirprogressagainstthisplantogainthemaximumbenefits

fromBIMimplementation.

TheContentisbasedupontheBIMProjectExecutionPlanningGuidewhichprovidesastructured

procedure,asdisplayedinFigure5.4-1,forcreatingandimplementingaBIMProjectExecutionPlan.
