Inanefforttounderstandtheunder-representationconsiderableattention.Forexample,Stroh,Langlands,and

ofwomenincoaching,socialcognitivecareertheorywasusedSimpson(2004)reportedthatonly12.5%ofallcorporate

toexaminetheinfluenceofontheheadcoachingofficersandonlytwoFortune500CEOswerewomen.The

intentions,andantecedentstothoseintentions,amongmalesametrendispresentintherealmofsportandphysical

andfemaleassistantcoachesofwomen’steams.Datawereactivity.Forexample,amongU.S.NationalCollegiate

collectedfrom66assistantcoacheswhorepresent15differentAthleticAssociation(NCAA)DivisionIathletic

sportswithintheOntarioUniversityAthleticsleague.Adepartments,only7.9%ofallathleticdirectorsarewomen

multivariateanalysisofvariance,followedupbyunivariate(DeHass,2004),andsimilarpatternsarefoundamong

analyses,revealedthatmen,relativetowomen,hadgreatercoachesofwomen’steams,wherewomenonlyoccupy42.4%

headcoachingself-efficacy,anticipatedmorepositiveout-ofsuchro(AcostaCarpenter,2006).Incomparison,

comesassociatedwithbeingaheadcoach,andpossessedwomencomprisedsthan2%ofheadcoachesofmen’s

greaterinterestinbecoming,andintentionstobecome,aheadteams(AcostaCarpenter,2006).Theunder-
