TheDragonBoatFestival,alsoknownasDuanwuFestival,isatraditionalChinesefestivalthattakesplaceintheearlysummeronthefifthdayofthefifthlunarmonth.ThisfestivaliscelebratedtohonourthegreatpoetQuYuan(340–278B.C.),wholivedduringtheWarringStatesperiod.ItholdsanimportantplaceinChineseculture.QuYuanwasawiseministerintheancientstateofChu.Helovedhiscountrydeeply,butwaswronglyaccusedandbanished.Indespairoverhisnation’sfate,hedrownedhimselfintheMiluoRiver.Thelocalpeople,whoadmiredhimgreatly,rushedoutintheirboatstosavehim.Thisactofrushingoutinboatsisbelievedtobetheoriginofthedragonboatracestoday.Whentheycouldn’tfindhisbody,thelocalsthrewballsofriceintotheriver.Theyhopedthericewouldfeedthefishandkeephisbodyfrombeingeatenbyfish.Thesericeballs,nowcalledzongzi,arewrappedinreedleavesandshapedintotriangles.Eatingzongziduringthefestivalserve
