IntroductionWith the development of informational technology, the Internet as a new method for communication and getting information is getting more and more popular with people. Moreover, the development of the Internet has brought a great impact on English study.The Internet is the greatest network for the international communication which adopts special technique to link all types of network together on the main net. The word?“internet” originated from two English words,?“interconnection” and?“network”. The prefixes of these two words are?“inter” and?“net”, respectively referring to?“mutual” and?“net”, which is combined to form?“Internet”.1 The history of the Internet can be dated back to 1969 when the US established the?“Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency” during the period of cold war. The function of this agency was to make the computers in different areas maintain the linkage and communication through ordinary telephone line.2Some people equated the Internet as the World Wide Web?(“www” for short); however, the Internet can do many other things, such as sending E-mail, taking part in the news group or discussion group, entering in BBS or chat box for fun, launching the discussion list, carrying out video conference, and so on.
