The intercultural communication is booming with the trend of globalization, as one of the important ways of intercultural communication, translation has developed very fast too. As we know, intercultural communication is a type of communication and information exchanged between people referring to two different cultural frameworks, in this sense, communication between the people belonging to two different cultures is a sort of cultural translation. Therefore, the basic difficulty in intercultural communication is the difference that exists between sender and receiver’s cultural backgrounds and ways of communicating. And also the difficulty in translation is how to transfers the cultural messages accurately.In order to understanding the task better, to study the definition of translation and culture is very important. But both of them have much different definition. To translation, many textbook defined it as an language activity which using one language to re-express the content of another language accurately and completely, and some books defined it as a process that changing the product of the speech of a language to another language’s, but the presupposition is that the meaning isn’t changed. Eugene Nida A. defined it as follows: Translation consists in reproducing in the receptor language the closest equivalent of the source language message, first in terms of style. For culture, there also are many definitions and the simplest one is the ways of a people. And Newmark defined it as the total range of activities and ideas and their material expression in objects and process peculiar to a group of people, as well as their particular environment.
