For one thing, it is widespread; probably everyone has struggled with it at on time or another. Second, it can damage relationships. When we are jealous of someone, we tend not to like him or her, although our bad feelings usually do not hurt the other person’s success. Third, when we are jealous of others, we tend to overlook what we already have, and therefore do not enjoy or use the blessings that we already have. Overcoming jealousy is not easy, but it is poss ible. How? As with overcoming all problems, the first step is to admit the problem. Recognize the jealousy and decide to combat it. Second, try to enjoy and learn from other people ’s successes. If we look at other people as potential teachers instead of a competitor, it may give us a better attitude.
