Some reasons account for this phenomena, such as different cultural background, different customs, different ways of thinking, ect. So, in my paper I will expound the phenomena from four aspects. The first is the same animal words with the same or similar associative meanings in English and Chinese. The second is the same animal words with different associative meanings in English and Chinese. The third one is the different animal words with similar associative meanings in English and Chinese. The last is one animal word has rich associative meanings in one language but has no associative meanings in the other languages. With the development of our society, the globalization is becoming an unavoidable tendency, and human beings contact with each other more and more frequently.
