Period 5 Grammar Teaching * NSEFC Module 3 Unit 1 Festivals around the world Period 5 Grammar Teaching Teaching Design PartⅠ Understanding of the Teaching Material 1.Analysis on the teaching content Grammar Teaching, which is the other part of the Learning About Language, ranks the fifth period of the whole unit. In this grammar section, it helps students understand, be familiar with and master the usage of the modal verbs, and also will help students understand the cultural significance of the festivals better. Knowledge goals: Learn the modal verbs:can/ could, may/ might, will/ would, shall/ should, must/ can’t. Ability goals: Enable the students to understand the usage of the modal verbs and use the modal verbs to make sentences or to express their own opinion in real scenes. Learning ability goals: Develop students’ interest in Grammar Learning by autonomous?learning and cooperative learning. Teaching important and difficult points: Know how each modal verb is used in different situations and use the modal verbs to make sentences in real scenes . 2. Teaching aims and demands Part Ⅱ Analysis of students Generally speaking, grammar teaching is a period rather boring to the students. Besides, part of the students are weak in grammar, so they are afraid of it. As for the modal verbs, the usage of the different is sometimes confusing. Part Ⅲ Studying Way 1. By discussing and cooperating in groups, the students will find out the meaning and different usage of the modal verbs. 2. Enable the students to know the cultural significance of festivals better with the help of mastering the different usage of the modal verbs.
