Just like the nature where a variety of lives form interdependent eco-system, there exists interdependent eco-system in urban civilization. In the system, human civilization accumulates and interacts across generations which enrich itself in a positive way. 1、城市文化生态的整体性特征 任何生态系统都是一个整体的系统。在自然生 态系统中各生态元素之间必须处于一种相互依存的平衡系 统之中。一旦这种平衡被破坏，整个生态系统便会土崩瓦 解。 城市文化生态的第一个重要特征是它的整体性。 人类千百年不断沉积起来的城市文明及其物质载体共同组 成了这一完整的生态系统。 1) The Integrity of Urban Cultural Ecology Any ecological system is an integrated system. In the natural eco- system, all ecological elements must keep a subtle interdependent balance. Once the balance is interrupted, the whole system would collapse. The first important feature of urban cultural ecology is its integrity. Urban civilization accumulated through thousands of years upon its physical carrier compose of an integrated ecological system as such. 2、城市文化生态的多样性特征 物种多样性是自然生态系统的魅力所在。城市生 态系统中的多样性同样是人类城市文明的灿烂光辉。人类 现代性的最重要特征之一便是文化价值的多样性和审美取 向的多元化。所谓文化先进性的真正含义应该是对先前文 化和异质文化的包容。对历史文化遗产保护并使之融入我 们当代生活空间，成为现代生活的需要，正是人类社会现 代化的重要标志之一。 2) The Diversity of urban cultural ecology The diversity of natural species is the reason that natural eco-system survives and thrives.
