been the remains of t he early Western Zhou Dynasty in Yinxu Site. Referring t o his article on t he round
burial pit at H ougang ( HGH10) published 50 years ago, the author undertakes analysis of bot h the shape
of the unearthed bronze vessels and paleographic characteristics of their inscript ions. T he results of his
st udy provide new evidences in favor of the view point t hat the latest strata of Yinxu S ite belonged t o the
Early Western Zhou period, and t he round burial pit at H ougang and t he tomb M 1713 belonged to the
reign of King Cheng of t he Western Zhou Dynast y.
