马来西亚人文与社会科学学报, 2013.06, 2：13-27 试论许云樵的马新暹史研究 An Assessment of Hsu Yun-Tsiao`s Malaya and Siam Studies 廖文辉* （LEW Bon Hoi ） 摘要 许云樵的学术研究上有两个极为重要的研究领域，即马来亚史和暹罗史的研究。前者 是他落地生根的国家，后者是他南来之初教学旅居之所在，这两个地区皆是他相当熟悉的地 方，同时他又兼通两国语文，使其在研究上如鱼得水。在马来亚史的研究方面最可注意者是 许云樵对马来亚国史建构的努力，尤其是古代史的建构，他能将模糊不清的古史勾稽出一个 轮廓，同时也注意史料的译介。至于暹罗史研究方面可以分成三个部分，即中暹和日暹交通 关系研究、暹罗古史研究，北大年史研究，至于他在暹罗史研究上最大的贡献厥为沟通中暹 史料，并对部分暹文研究成果和原始史料进行了汉译。 关键词：许云樵、马来亚、暹罗 Abstract The two major areas of research of Hsu Yun-Tsiao are in the historical studies of Malaya and of Siam. Malaya was where he finally put down roots and Siam was his earliest place of residence after leaving China. His familiarity with both these countries and the mastery of their languages were stood him in good stead in his subsequent research. In the area of Malaya studies, the most noticeable feature of his Hsu’s research was the attempt to write the history of Malaya, especially of the ancient period. He succeeded in producing an outline of the ancient history of Malaya and at the same time felt a need in translating selected historical materials. His work on Siam studies may be grouped under three categories, namely, transport and communications between Sian and China and with Japan, the ancient history of Siam, and studies on Patani history. His major contribution to Siamese historical studies was in integrating the historical materials relating to China and Siam, as well as in the translation of selected Siamese historical materials into Chinese.
