Abstract：Inthisstudy，Piceaschrenkianavar．tianshanicaforestsinfivedifferentlongitudinalsites(Zhaosu，
Gongliu，Wusu，UrumqiandHami)inTianshanMountainswereinvestigatedbyusingverticaltransects．Theper—
centageoftreesindifferentsizes，thediameterclassesdistribution，andthefittedequationsforaccumulatedstem
percentageofP．schrenkianavar．tianshanicawereanalyzedinordertostudythepopulationdiameterclassesstruc—
ture．Theresuhsshowedthatthedecreasingorderofrpercentageofseedling，saplingandthesmalltreesisHami，
Urumqi，Gongliu，Zhaosu andWusu．Thedistribution ofstern abundancealong thediameterclassesin Zhaosu，
GongSp，Wusu，UrumqiandHamiallhadaninversed “J”shape．ThebestfittedequationinZhaosuandUrumqi
ofraccumulatedstem percentageofP．schrenkianavar．tianshanicawasexponential，whilethebestoneofranohter
threesiteswaslogarithmic．Gongliu preservesthebestnaturalpopulationsofP．schrenkiana var．ti
