Methods A tot al of 2 39 strains of S. pyogenes w ere collected from 3 childrencs hospitals in China, including 191 f rom patients with invasive or nonin- vasive infections, and 4 8 from asymptomatic carriers. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (M ICs) of 5 macrolide antibiotics against t hese isolates were determ ined by microdilution technique. emm was typed by PCR amplification and DNA sequencing.
