M5-U15-Lesson 1 Life-long Learning (First Period) 教学内容 Reading: The Importance of Life-long Learning 教学目标 By the end of this period, the students will be able to: 1. retell the learning experiences of the three life-long learners, using the information and vocabulary acquired from the texts 2. learn the importance of life-long learning and make their own plans for continuous study. 教学重点 Guide the students to use the information and vocabulary acquired from the texts. Help the students achieve a better understanding of the importance of life-long learning and encourage them to make their own plans for continuous study.. 【教学过程及设计意图】 教学步骤 课堂活动 目的,意图 活动方式 Step 1 Lead in 1. T (teacher) presents a picture and organizes Ss (students) to talk about it. Pre-teach new word saying. 2. T presents the title and the objectives of the lesson. 激发兴趣,引出话题, 使学生产生阅读的动机。 呈现目标,引导学生有目的地学习。 Pair Work Class Work Step 2 Pre-reading Pre-teach new words: alphabet, throat, lump, bury. Ss look at the photo on P36 and answer two questions about it. 预教词汇,为下一步阅读任务扫清障碍。 调动已知,预测课文内容,激发学习新知的兴趣。 Class Work Step 3 Fast reading 1. Ss read the title, the paragraph in italic as well as the subtitles quickly to make clear of the main idea and the writer’s purpose of writing. 2. Ss read the texts quickly and find out what the three learners studied. 学生通过速读获取主旨大意并初步理解三段短文的内容,为后面的阅读任务作铺垫 Individual Work Class Work Step 4 Careful reading 1. Ss read the texts again, circle the words/phrases in the texts and then match them with their definitions: secure, frankly, suspect, status, chief, swell with, aside from Ss read the texts once more and fill in the table with the correct information. Ss check their answers in pairs. Check the answers as a class.
