Abstract
WiththedevelopmentofthemanufacturingindustryinChinaanditsfierce
competition,ahighrequirementinefficiencyisneeded.Itisaveryurgentnecessityfor
somemachinemanufacturerstoautomatethepartloadingandunloadingonaNClathe
SomemanufacturersinChinahaveequippedtheNClatheswithautomaticpartloading
andunloadingmanipulators.Themanipulatorsusedareusuallydrivenbyservoelectro
motorswithhighprecision,whichareexpensiveinprice,complexinstructureandlowin
speedandefficient.Thesearetheproblems,whichpreventitswideapplicationonNC
lathes.
Thepurposeoftheresearchistodesignamodularpneumaticmanipulator,which
hasthefunctionofautomaticpartloadingandunloadingandatthesametimehasahigher
efficiencyandlowercostagainstitsservoactuatedcounterpart.Themainworks
accomplishedinthepaperinclude:(1)themechanicaldesignofthemodularpneumatic
manipulator;(2)thesupportingstructureofthepneumaticcylinderwithalongspan;(3)
theanti-overturntechniqueofthehorizontalpneumaticcylinder;(4)thehighprecision
adjustingtechniqueofthepneumaticcylinderwithflexibility;(5)thedesignofthe
pneumaticcircuitandthePLC-basedcontrolsystem;(6)thetestingofthesystem.Itis
provedthatthespecificationsarereachedandtheperformanceisgood.
Bythetheoreticalresearchandpracticalexperiment,thetechnicaldifficulties
concernedwiththepneumaticloadingandunloadingmanipulatorhavebeenresolved.A
setofmodularpneumaticloadingandunloadingmanipulatorhasbeendeveloped.This
productcansupplyindustryfieldwithfeasibletechniquecriterions,andpromotethe
applicationofthepneumaticsinindustryfield
