Guangdong Power Grid Corporation, Guangzhou 510000, Guangdong Province, China) ABSTRACT: The dynamics of a microgrid is greatly complex due to the diversity of distributed generation (DG) and the high nonlinearity within the system itself. Transient simulation tool plays a significant role in obtaining a full and detailed response under various operation conditions. However, the simulation capability and speed become limited with increased system size. This paper presented a parallel algorithm for microgrid transient simulation. The algorithm first decoupled the solution of the electrical and control systems using a one time-step delay. Then, an improvement algorithm on the interface accuracy and numerical stability was proposed using explicit integration or formulas. Finally, the control system was further decoupl
